The word “savior” can have so many meanings to so many different people. You can think of someone as their savior because this person saved him or her from a difficult or awkward situation. You thank them for being there when you needed them. When I think of savior I think of it in two different ways. One way is how many people were like our little saviors helping us through the difficult time of Mari being in the hospital or after she died. The other way, and the main way for me anyway, … [Read more...]
A Mother’s Love
A mother's love is a very beautiful emotion and something so incredibly special. I was just thinking last night how every person in the world living and breathing today has a mother and father somewhere whether they are alive or dead. However, not everyone has a child or ever will. It is a very special bond between parent and child. It is different for a mother with her children and a father with his children. God intended it this way for a reason. I know when it comes to our daughter that … [Read more...]
Exciting Times
I’m kind of excited. I just joined a new writing organization online called ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers). I was told about this organization from someone on a forum I am apart of. I think back to last spring time frame when I first happen come upon a writing community through CreateSpace. From there I have become in involved in a few others. And through this experience I have been able to find this new group of people. They actually have local chapters all over the country you … [Read more...]
Life’s Moments…
I am here at work today just having a normal day. I had a book by Angie Smith called I Will Carry You that I let someone borrow. It is such a story of encouragement to me while at the same time it made me ball like a baby. I could so relate to her story. It truly touched my life. I am ever grateful to have been introduced to this story at my women’s retreat this past March. I let a coworker borrow the book to read. For her it was just too sad and so she had laid it on my desk this … [Read more...]
Just sitting here thinking…
I was sitting here thinking on my way home from work today how I don’t write as I used to. Here recently it has all been about either writing Mari’s book or now attempting my first hand at writing something fiction. However, I have been really thinking about Mari here recently as her three year mark approaches. It is hard to believe that it has been almost three years. It still doesn’t seem possible. Mari will always continue to live on in my heart. I hope through her story she will also … [Read more...]
Moving forward with the book
Hello everyone. I want to keep everyone up to date with the book progress. I have joined a few writing forum's to help me become a better writer. In the process I have been able to post some of my writing in order to get feedback from strangers as to what they think of the book so far. What I have come to realize is that I need to rewrite much of the book so that I can get Mari's story across the way it needs to. I want others, those who never have had a chance to meet and get to know our … [Read more...]
A Scholarship Program in Mari’s Honor
I want to start off by telling everyone I am still here even though I have not written a little while. I have started a new job and trying to do some other things. I know many of you know I have been writing a book about Mari’s life and the grief journey that followed. The book is done. However, here is where the problem lies. I have found an editor that I believe will be perfect for this book. Unfortunately, the price is quite high for me to pay her. I need to raise about $8,000 to … [Read more...]
Mari’s Book is Done
Mari book is finally done, or at least written I should say. Now starts the editing process. It seems I could go through the book 100 times and find something wrong each and every time. However, to have it really edited so it a great book, I know I need to go to a professional editor to have that done. So I went searching singing all the way, “A searching we will go, a searching we will go, hi ho the search-e-o, a searching we will go.” I did a Google search and ended up coming across … [Read more...]
I’m still amazed…
I am still amazed sometimes when someone tells me they think I am a good writer. I have never thought of myself in this light. To be honest, the only time I have written anything before in the past were for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only: an assignment/paper for school/college or writing in my diary. That was it. I never wrote stories or anything. Then Mari gets sick and I write out for all of our friends and family updates on her progress. Then she dies. I purchase a special journal to … [Read more...]
Super Bowl Sunday
I sit here watching the Super Bowl where the Steelers and Packers are playing each other. Keith and I are at a friend’s house just enjoying each other’s company. It’s nice instead of just being at home. I sit here thinking about how this little pink journal I bring with me almost everywhere has become quite a companion for me. I am able to write down my thoughts that might otherwise be lost forever. It’s nice to know I have this. Some people think this is my personal diary. I tell … [Read more...]
