In my last post I wrote about how I joined this new group for writers. I have been receiving welcome's from the different members. And in my long winded sort of way (I just can't seem to keep my words down to a simple few sentences LOL), I responded back to what they have said. As I wrote a reply back yesterday I was thinking that it might be a good message to put on here. So I decided to put up a couple of them on here for what I said to share with all of you. I will post them over the next … [Read more...]
Exciting Times
I’m kind of excited. I just joined a new writing organization online called ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers). I was told about this organization from someone on a forum I am apart of. I think back to last spring time frame when I first happen come upon a writing community through CreateSpace. From there I have become in involved in a few others. And through this experience I have been able to find this new group of people. They actually have local chapters all over the country you … [Read more...]
Old and New
It’s interesting to me to have a child, my niece, ask me a question about a conversation she over heard me having with her mom on the phone talking about how I died the day Mariana died and a new Kristena was born. Athena asked me this morning, “Auntie Kris, last night when you were talking to my mommy you talked about an “Old Kristena” and a “New Kristena,” what was the “old Kristena” like?” I wasn’t quite sure how to answer this. How do you explain to an 8 year old what you used to be like? … [Read more...]
Life’s Moments…
I am here at work today just having a normal day. I had a book by Angie Smith called I Will Carry You that I let someone borrow. It is such a story of encouragement to me while at the same time it made me ball like a baby. I could so relate to her story. It truly touched my life. I am ever grateful to have been introduced to this story at my women’s retreat this past March. I let a coworker borrow the book to read. For her it was just too sad and so she had laid it on my desk this … [Read more...]
Moving forward with the book
Hello everyone. I want to keep everyone up to date with the book progress. I have joined a few writing forum's to help me become a better writer. In the process I have been able to post some of my writing in order to get feedback from strangers as to what they think of the book so far. What I have come to realize is that I need to rewrite much of the book so that I can get Mari's story across the way it needs to. I want others, those who never have had a chance to meet and get to know our … [Read more...]

A Scholarship Program in Mari’s Honor
I want to start off by telling everyone I am still here even though I have not written a little while. I have started a new job and trying to do some other things. I know many of you know I have been writing a book about Mari’s life and the grief journey that followed. The book is done. However, here is where the problem lies. I have found an editor that I believe will be perfect for this book. Unfortunately, the price is quite high for me to pay her. I need to raise about $8,000 to … [Read more...]
Moments
Life can have its moment’s. It’s what you do with those moments that count. I had my security interview this past Thursday. I think it went pretty well. The lady was very nice. It was a nice moment. Then on Friday I headed out with my church group for our women’s retreat. I volunteered to drive the Suburban of one of the women who happened to be driving one of the church’s vans. The weekend was great and I had a really good time. It was a fantastic moment. Then Monday morning … [Read more...]
Women’s Retreat third entry
The start of a new day. It is a beautiful day but to look outside you wouldn’t know it. Our cabin is off the mountain side and you can see all the other beautiful log cabins around us USUALLY. This morning looking outside our bedroom window everything is in a major fog. It is interesting how it can just come and envelope the area like this. Fog is kind of representative of our own lives. Everything can be beautiful and then all of a sudden something happens in your life and the fog can … [Read more...]
