In life, the perfect day would be 100% smooth. If we’re doing something we don’t get interrupted. We blissfully move from one activity to another. The dream life.
Well, that’s just it. It’s a dream. Whether at home or at a job, you will always inevitably be interrupted by someone or something. That’s just life. Sometimes those interruptions are either wanted or good. Other times you wish you could disappear. Ultimately, we have to juggle everything we do in just the right combination so we can do as much as we can in the time allotted.
It’s been interesting over the last year since we took guardianship of our niece and nephew. After the death of our daughter our lives, as you can imagine, changed forever, both physically and mentally. The mental part I think is obvious. Quite frankly that will never go away.
But the physical brought us a life without our daughter. We went from having a severely autistic daughter to having no children. For me it was the hardest time of my life. Sometimes I still wonder how I got through. But then I remember that I didn’t. It was God giving me the strength to get through.
And then God provided us the opportunity to raise our niece Athena and our nephew Trevin. When they came to us a year and half ago Athena was 7 and Trevin was 6. They are now 9 and 8. They have been such a blessing to us. We’ve had to learn to go from having no children to raising two kids. It’s been interesting but I’d never change a thing. They are two of the sweetest kids I know.
