In writing, hearing a distinct voice is important whether it be fiction or nonfiction. For me, I feel my voice comes out the clearest when I stay true to myself. If I were to try to start being like someone else in my writing I think it would come of as face and insincere. My hope is that when someone reads something I’ve written, my words, that they can tell I’m opening up myself to them, the reader.
This site is all about my voice and what my daughter has meant to me. No matter what happens in my life, my writing will always be there by my side to help guide me through just as it has the last five years. Somehow something I never thought would happen but my writing has become sort of an outlet to be able to be open about my feelings and emotions. I’m able to lay them out on the page (or computer screen). I’m able to just be me, where it just so happens other people read about me at the same time.
No, I may not hear literal voices yet when it comes to writing fiction, but I know I have my own voice swirling around my head all the time and it seems to always want to come and say something.
