When I volunteer for something it’s because my heart is in the right place and I like to give back. I want to help those in need. I want to give of my time because it’s the right thing to do.

When I was going through my email yesterday, I saw a request for volunteers for a the contest that is getting ready to happen with ACFW. The primary coordinator is in need of category coordinators.

ACFW is so much more than just a place for writers to talk and learn about writing. It is a community of fellow Believers that just happen to be aspiring authors, published authors, publishers, and agents. We pray for one another. We help critique one another’s works in progress. We have accountability with both editing and writing through Novel Track. There are genre specific loops so you can ask other authors in your genre for help if need. And then there’s so much more. The thing is that all those that I’ve mentioned are all run by volunteers who give up their time. No one forced them to. They want and love to do it.

And I’m the same way and this is why I volunteered to be a category coordinator for the upcoming writing contest. I know the need is big and it wouldn’t be able to happen if there weren’t those who did. I love giving back and I hope that I will be able to help in whatever capacity is needed.
