Please welcome this weeks guest June Foster for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? I retired from teaching elementary school in El Paso, Texas. A few years later my husband and I bought an RV and began traveling across the United States, loving every minute of our freedom. I can't describe all the exciting places we visited. Some mornings we'd even wake up and ask ourselves where we wanted to travel today. After a few years, something … [Read more...]
Pumpkin Pie Anyone?
When I think of the different things that start to come out during the fall for the things people like to eat, things that come to mind are caramel apples, candy corn, cranberry sauce, squashes, turkey, the multi color corn (maze corn), apple pie, stuffing, and so many more. However, I think my very favorite is pumpkin pie. Ever since I can remember, this time of year brings out the pumpkin pies. And not even just the pie but pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, and maybe some other things I don’t … [Read more...]
What Autumn Brings
In the past when I thought about autumn, or fall, I’d think about how the leaves started to change bring about all the beautiful colors. The vivid reds, oranges, and golds. Or how about the weather and temperature changes. In the lower 48, the temps have changed a whole lot yet, but they are starting to make their decent downward as we make our way towards winter. The mountain peaks, if you live by them, have started to show snow on the tops. It’s a beautiful site to behind. As we drive out … [Read more...]
Day 4: Alaska
In one word: Alaska. To start with, it has to be one of the most beautiful places that I've not only been to but lived before. I mean, Colorado Springs, Colorado, was gorgeous. Keith and I loved it there. In fact, we've talked about retiring there since we left back in 1997 when Keith got off active duty the first time. We fell in love with the beauty that surrounded us. We loved the mountain back drop. It was just nice. I'd have to say that Alaska tops Colorado. Not only do we have mountains … [Read more...]
A new journey (of sorts)
On my daughter's dedication website, I started a journey at the beginning of the year where I'd write for 365 days from reading prompts out of this book. I've been loving it and it's been an interesting ride along the way. The thing is, I'd like to do something similar on here but don't want to use the same book. So I went on a search today and found five new books, one of which I'm going to start for my journey here. They're simple word prompts. I think it will fun and exciting as I start … [Read more...]
Finding Something Interesting This Evening Online
As I sat here writing tonight and then went searching for some graphics, I came across an interesting one that had this on it: When To Shelve the Book You're Writing. Well, that little bit piqued my interest so I click on the graphic and it took me to this blog post: samanthaboyette.com/when-to-shelve-the-book-youre-writing. What this woman had to say was quite interesting. I know in the book I've been writing, or trying to write, every once in a while I think maybe I should move onto a new … [Read more...]
I’m beginning something new
I've decided to try something new here. I want to be able to write a little something each day. Whether it's about the book I'm currently writing or just to say how my day was. I want to keep my readers up to date with everything. Today, I've mostly been writing posts for my daughter's dedication website (Mommy's Angel In Heaven). I love writing on there as that website has not only become apart of me but my soul. I get to openly share with people my thoughts and how I'm feeling at the time … [Read more...]
I’m Back (Man It’s Been A Long Time)
Well, who knew that my break would have taken me this long. Since my last message we have moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Our nephew has gone back home to live with his biological mom. And now I'm back into my writing. It's been so exciting as I completely rewrote out a new outline for my book as I figured out how I needed to proceed forward. I've just started writing out the new scene's and rewriting several of the ones I already had as the book takes on a new turn. I'd like to start a writing … [Read more...]
Day 44: Sad Flailing and Panic
Look at the following quote. "Writing is magic, as much the water of life as any other creative art. The water is free. So drink. Drink and be filled up." —STEPHEN KING I would have to agree with Mr. King. No, you will never ever see me reading one of his novels (talk about nightmares for days). However, finding out that even a writer as good as he is gets writer's block and he looks at writing the same way I do makes it so I can relate to him. We all have those time where we panic because … [Read more...]
Day 41: Overnight Success Story
I think we would all like to be an overnight success story. It's a dream of ours as a writer. The process would be simple. We write out our novel. We work ferociously to get it just right. Then we query the agent of our dreams. You receive a phone call almost immediately from the said agent where he says, "You're the writer I've been waiting for." You sign the contact he has for you the next day because he's flown to your house. Then next he calls and tells you that Thomas Nelson, Bethany House, … [Read more...]
