When I think of "Sacred Space" I think of it more in the abstract. I can be sitting in my living room in my comfy cozy chair or like I am now, writing this on my Kindle as I walk on my treadmill. For me my space becomes sacred when I need to write something. I don't like to be interrupted as I can lose my train of thought just like the snap of my fingers. Sometimes I'm so engrossed in what I'm doing that others may try to talk to me but I don't hear them as my mind's been turned off to … [Read more...]
The Journey with Paula Mowery
Please welcome this weeks guest Paula Mowery for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? Growing up, my mother worked at a Christian bookstore. She would bring me books to read and also journals to write in, so I suppose she is partially responsible for my love of reading Christian fiction and my love of writing. I wanted to pass on this love. As an English teacher for middle school students I urged them to find books they could get into, … [Read more...]
To Change Something About Yourself
If I were given the opportunity to change one thing about myself it would be to have much better patience. I didn't want to just say patience, because no matter who you are you have some. It might seem microscopic, but it's still there. God may have bestowed many gifts upon me, some still unknown, but the one He didn't give was the gift of patience. This is a weak area for me. I can easily get frustrated and don't dare try to talk to me in those moments of deep frustration because I have a … [Read more...]
If I Had A Million Dollars…
But there's a catch. You are given the million in the morning and all of it must be spent by that night. If this opportunity happened to me I know without a shadow of doubt I contact as many school as I could to find out how I could give a four-year scholarship to those individuals who were majoring in special education. Even if the student was a senior that year, I'd give a one year scholarship to that individual to pay for all of his or her expenses. When I read the first prompt for the … [Read more...]
FALLing into Place
Nothing in life is ever easy for most of us. It's the things we work hard for that tend to be the most rewarding in the end. Compare someone who started from the ground up in a business and worked hard to make it a multimillion dollar one or the child born into wealth who never had to work a day in his life that when he turned eighteen he just expected much of the same. Who will appreciate what he has more? Hopefully it would be obvious that the guy who worked hard as the one who did doesn't … [Read more...]
The Journey with Carrie Turansky
Please welcome this weeks guest Carrie Turansky for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? My Writing Journey I’ve loved reading since I first visited the library as a young child and checked out a tall stack of picture books. I soon graduated to chapter books and spent many happy hours, lying on our porch swing reading. Those lazy days gave my imagination a chance to grow, and they helped me develop a love for well-told stories. My love … [Read more...]
Choosing to Fail
Think about this quote: "A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything." —Malcolm X I've heard this before but put another way. The gist is if we never try anything new we will never know if we will succeed. It's those who are willing to fail who become the successful ones. Throughout my life, and especially in my adult life, I've tried many things and have failed many times. I've tried to do several business from home. I've wanted to do many different things. I've slowly learned … [Read more...]

The Journey with June Foster
Please welcome this weeks guest June Foster for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? I retired from teaching elementary school in El Paso, Texas. A few years later my husband and I bought an RV and began traveling across the United States, loving every minute of our freedom. I can't describe all the exciting places we visited. Some mornings we'd even wake up and ask ourselves where we wanted to travel today. After a few years, something … [Read more...]
