Wow, I've never done this before. I am going to write a review about a software program that I've only just started to use. Here is what our Blu-ray/DVD collection currently looks like (and yes we have almost two full shelving units filled with them :) : The left picture shows all the adult (not for kids) movies and any seasons for shows that we've liked. The right picture show all our Christmas movies, kid-friendly movies, and some workout videos. For years I've wanted to created a … [Read more...]
U is for Unique #atozchallenge
A uniquely different kind of girl. Mari had one of those personality that sticks with you. If you'd met her, you remember her for the spunky little thing that she was. She rarely got upset but when she did you heard about it. She'd be playing with a toy and every seemed to be going fine when all of a sudden she'd scream at whatever it was she was playing with or doing, then either throw it or destroy whatever it was she was making. I know so many children who have autism have meltdowns on a … [Read more...]
Endings…
Aren't they bitter-sweet? Some can be fantastic, like when you write the last word of your book and can say, "The End." And other endings may bring nothing but sadness and grief, like losing a loved one. Either way, the ending may be sad because even though you may be happy that your done with whatever you were doing, you may still miss that time spent on it. I think of the extras on a Blu-Ray or DVD where the actors, actress, or the director will say how happy they are the movie is done yet … [Read more...]
Day 149: The DVD in Your Head
Whether you are a writer or not have you ever had an idea that just goes round and round in your head until you do something about it. As a writer, it might be your story and your characters constantly talking to you. Or maybe a scene that is playing out before you. For me, I've relieved what happened to Mari in the hospital more times than I can remember. It's something that's always there and can easily be brought to mind. I think it's because it will forever be apart of me and is embedded … [Read more...]
Back to My 365 Day Writing Journey
Well, being apart of NaBloPoMo was kind of exciting. I loved being able to come up with the different topics on 'serve' throughout the month. However, my 365 Day writing journey is going to take more of a priority so I'm back to that now. Over the next several days the topics for my journey will be: Day 141: Poetry for Your Table; Day 142: Writers with a View; Day 143: Marriage vs. Dating; Day 144: Drinking, Bloating, and Not Writing; Day 145: Talent; Day 146: The Sliver of Ice; Day 147: Themes; … [Read more...]
X is for eXtraordinary
Mari was and will always be remembered for her eXtraordinary personality. I know that technically eXtraordinary doesn't start with an X but not a single word in the dictionary I found could be used to describe Mari. So I decided to be creative like we used to do on road trips when I was a kid. We'd play the alphabet game and because it was next to impossible to find words that started with an X so we were allowed to use a license plate if it had one or if the second letter, like eXit, could … [Read more...]
Iris and Kristena
I sit here watching Mr. Holland’s Opus. I think this is one of those movies that just touches you to the depths of your soul. It has true meaning instead of what a lot of these movies out there today seem to lack. I think if you've seen this movie it's touched you in some way. I haven't really watched this movie in several years. As a matter of fact I don't remember the last time I watched it. It's a simple movie about a man named Glenn, or Mr. Holland, who had a dream and did teaching to … [Read more...]
Love The One Your With
Well, I sit here at home today by myself as Keith has left on his first trip for his new position today. He'll only be gone until Thursday, in other words five days and four nights. When you put it into overall perspective, it's really not that long considering he is in the Army and he could be being deployed instead and gone for a year or two. But still, I hate it when he has to leave. I'm not one of those wives who actually looks forward to their husbands leaving for a few days or if he … [Read more...]
Shopping…
Keith and I were sitting here discussing how there's hardly any food in the house. I don’t do the grocery shopping like I used to any more. It’s typically just me at home in the house most of the time. Keith is at work ridiculously long hours Monday through Friday, and then sometimes even on Saturday, especially right now that he's acting first sergeant of his company while his first sergeant is off at first sergeant school. So, my line of thinking is why do we need that much food in the house … [Read more...]
Suddenly and Out of the Blue, It Hits You
Tonight happens to be a hard night for me. It just literally came out the blue. Today seemed to be going fine. I have been working on my new website I hope to have up and running within the next month. I was watching my third movie for the day. All of the movies I watched today have been all happy, feel good movies. Keith and I were having a DiGiorno Garlic Bread Pepperoni pizza. I had just taken it out of the oven. And then I started thinking about when we lived in the house just previous … [Read more...]
