I was debating on whether to share the Week 4 Day 2 entry I'd written back on November 7, 2015. It's the first day Jen Hatmaker has us research the background of a book in the Bible before actually getting into the book itself. When I looked at day 2 I figured I was going to be expanding upon this specific day so I better include it so it makes better sense in the end. My hope is that maybe you might learn something like I did the day I did it. Thanks. Today is November 7, 2015 and I am in … [Read more...]
Where to Get the Ultimate Guide Book
(While the following post is much longer than normal at almost 2,000 words, please read the entire thing. I reveal some very person things going on in my life at the time. Thank you.) Today is November 6, 2015 and I am on week 4 day 1 of the study guide. During my quiet time, I talk about some very personal stuff but just how much God has been working in my life. When we think of the Bible, it's like the ultimate guide book. It shows us the kind of person we should strive to be. How to act … [Read more...]
How Do I Get My Priorities Straight?
I've created something I like to call my "Daily Priorities Notebook". At first, I did it in a 3-subject, 120 sheet, college ruled, spiral bound notebook. The original idea started back in February 2016. The first day I did it was on February 29. I did it everyday until March 10, then missed three days, did it one more time on March 14, and then I stopped for a while. I picked it up again on my birthday last year (August 2, 2016) and only did it until August 9. On August 10 I got a weird … [Read more...]
The Journey with Jo Huddleston
Please welcome this week's guest Jo Huddleston for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? My Writing Journey When I decided I wanted to write for publication, all I had was aspiration and hope. I hadn't studied the craft of writing, but I loved books and reading all my life. So when I submitted my first short stories, form letter rejections sped to my mailbox. It didn’t take long to learn that I needed help. I scoured the magazine … [Read more...]
The Journey with Max Elliot Anderson
Please welcome this week's guest Max Elliot Anderson for The Journey. He answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? A question I’m often asked is why I write for kids and not adults. Given my life of world travel and working on so many different kinds of film and video productions, why write for kids? Why not write about all those interesting countries and the people I’ve met? I could tell some wild stories. Like the film I shot in New Guinea. New Guinea … [Read more...]

The Journey with Jean Ann Williams #acfw
Please welcome this week's guest Jean Anne Williams for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? My writing journey began before I even knew it, and God had a plan. I’ve always had lots of energy—no I don’t drink coffee—I come by this naturally. Sitting still for very long wasn’t in my vocabulary until one Sunday on July 2, 1994. On my way to worship services in my little Honda Accord, I slowed for a familiar incline and then the dip in … [Read more...]
The Journey with Julie Lessman #acfw
Please welcome this week's guest Julie Lessman for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? He must increase, but I must decrease." --John 3:30 How have I seen God work in my writing journey? Well, let me put it this way—despite the fact that I’ve put on five extra pounds over the summer, the Scripture above is not talking about shedding body weight, although heaven knows I need to. Nope, today I'm talking about the latest lesson God has … [Read more...]
The Journey with Katheryn Haddad #acfw
Please welcome this week's guest Kateryn Haddad for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? I began to write when I was ten years old when my mother picked up a little book of poems at the grocery store (or was it the 5c and 10c store?) and gave it to me. I still have some of the poems I wrote back in 1950. When I was 12, I wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln and it made our local newspaper. Shortly thereafter, my teacher said there was … [Read more...]
The Journey with Melissa Finnegan #acfw
Please welcome this week's guest Melissa Finnegan for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? As probably is the case with most writers the dream to write was planted in my heart at a young age, but for me it would be over thirty years before I heard God instruct me to write. That call couldn’t happen until I died to self and dealt with long hidden wounds from my childhood. I can’t remember a time I wasn’t writing a story or making plays … [Read more...]
