Which do you prefer? Would you rather be on the ground looking up at a really tall building or would you rather be at the top of a skyscraper and looking down to those below you? I can honestly say both for different reasons.
When you are looking up at everything around you, you can enjoy those things close to you. However, there will be more noise around that might distract you from the beauty that surrounds you.
When you’re on top of a building and not only looking down, which by the way does tend to get your heart-rate a pumping, but to be able to see for miles around you all of the things both made my human hands and God’s hands. The beauty that surrounds you from all sides makes you take pause.
When we were on our trip across country and on of our stops was in Seattle, we went to the Space Needle. None of us had been before. You take this elevator however many stories up it would be considered until you reach the top. And then once there it is a 360 degree walk around to where you can see the city of Seattle from all angles. The ocean is on one side. Land surrounding the rest. The different structures and landscapes all bringing its own sort of beauty to what surrounds it.
So I think I’ve come to appreciate both looking up and looking down as it gives you a different perspective. It’s kind of like the symbolism for life. If one angle isn’t working right, try a different one. You never know what you may find there.
