Man, I wish I could say never because I know I’d be a lot thinner than I am now. I remember when I was in my teens to early 20’s being able to eat whatever I like and as much of it as I wanted. And then that pesky metabolism decided to start slowing down when I was around 24/25 year-old and I slowly gained some weight. It wasn’t terrible but I could no longer fit into my size 10 pants that I’d worn since I hit puberty.
After having Mari, that’s where I gain the most weight like so many other women out there today. And then you have someone like me who hates almost all vegetables and loves loves LOVES her carbs, I feel like I’m sunk.
However, I know in the end it’s all about self-control. Since arriving in Alaska I’ve been able to lose 20 pounds. Has it been easy? Absolutely not, but it’s been rewarding. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving threw me off my way of eating and I gain a couple of pounds back but it’s already almost back off as I’m back to how I’d been eating. I replace two meals a day with this Ensure high protein/low sugar shake. I snack very little throughout the day and try very hard not to eat very much, if anything, in the evenings. It’s not easy at all but I know in the end the reward will be so worth it.
