Here is what Staci has to say about her book and why she wrote it:

To Protect & Serve will always hold a special place in my heart.  This book was not on “my” agenda to write.  In fact, I was writing another book. A friend of mine had become interested in my writing process, which includes making a soundtrack and pulling pictures from the ‘net for characters.  One of the characters for the original book was in a boy band in the 90’s.  Well, as my friend perused the information I was accumulating, she “fell in love” with one of the other guys in the band.  She kept asking when I was going to write HIS story.  I tried to explain it didn’t work like that, but she kept at it.  Finally, in frustration, I said to God, “Fine, if I was to write this other guy’s story, what would it be?”  And the story literally dropped into my lap.  Two days later I was standing in a fire station asking questions about the best way to cut a vent hole in a roof.  Don’t ask me.  Writing on God’s schedule and timetable can be kind of strange sometimes.  Oh, and I’m really hoping some day I will be able to finish that original story I had started before I got sidetracked!
