Mari’s cousin Faith was always the one to take care of Mari even though Faith was four years younger than her.
Faith came into this world as a sweet beautiful little girl who grew into Mari’s surrogate big sister even though she was younger. When we would come to visit Keith’s mom and dad, Faith would bring Mari into her room and try her very best to force Mari to play with her.
Here’s the thing. No one could force Mari to do anything she didn’t want to without Mari fighting you tooth and nail. But Faith never seemed to mind. She play with our daughter any way.
On Mari’s last day, Amy, Faith’s mom and Keith’s sister, brought Faith with her to the hospital. There was a special therapist there specifically for little kids to try to help them better understand about someone dying. With this woman, Faith made Mari a special book and she gave it to her.
Faith loved Mari just like a sister. Faith was 4 years old at the time. She’s now 9 and still talks about our beloved angel in heaven. I’m glad I’m not the only one to miss her. Faith is just one of the many stories of people who miss our daughter.

They had a special relationship, one that must make you smile even as you miss her.

It really does. When my husband’s mom and dad came to visit over Easter weekend, they brought our niece Faith with them. Her and I were talking up in my other nieces room and she told me how she still remembers my daughter and misses her. I told her that I know. That she had a very special relationship with Mari and even though she was younger that she was kind of like Mari’s big sister. I know that Faith will always remember Mari and she will have a special closes to us and Mari as a result.

Peg, thank you so much. I feel blessed to be able to share about her and then reading the comments in return. See, Mari is still touching souls today even though she is gone and that in and of itself is a beaitful thing.

What a special memory – for you, and for Faith! I’m sure having known Mari will have a profound effect on Faith’s life. I’m also certain that Faith’s devotion and tenacity also impacted Mari in many ways.

I know you are right. Faith was there that last day Mari was alive. She made her a special book and gave it to her. Mari in her own quiet way still touches so many around her. The blessings have multiplied more than I could have ever imagined.
