It’s hard to believe that another month on my quest to write for 365 days has gone by. This month has been so different for me and my family this month. We have officially moved to Anchorage, Alaska, from Fort Knox, Kentucky.
For those who don’t know, my husband is currently serving in the Army. Last August my husband was offered a position at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station). His order came in September and thus started the countdown until we moved.
We started our cross-country journey April 22. Between driving and a big ferry-boat we finally made it to Anchorage this past Monday, May 27 at 12:10am. We are so glad this part of the journey is over. We were able to get on-posting housing on Tuesday and we officially get to get the keys to our new place on Friday. A week later our stuff will be delivered and thus starts the unpacking phase.
I think most people will agree that the act of moving itself is never any fun. But moving to a new location can be exciting and fun. To say Alaska is beautiful just doesn’t describe it enough. Snow covered mountain tops surround us. So far the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It’s been 80 the last few days and the next couple will be mid 70’s. I’m loving it so far.
As for my writing journey, I haven’t been able to be as consistent as I’d like to have been but with the move I guess I’m doing okay. It just feels good to have the traveling done. The four of us were starting to drive each other nuts constantly being in such tight-knit quarters. When we are officially moved in and unpacked life will start returning back to normal and I will be able to get back to my writing on a more normal basis.
I thank all of you for following along.
