Do you ever wonder sometimes if you are too old to write? I know several people involved with ACFW that they knew since a very young age that they either wanted to write or that they were meant to write. To put it bluntly: It was the last thing I ever wanted to do.
I struggled all through elementary school to the point I was held back in second grade. My grades always consisted of getting C’s and H’s. You might be asking what in the world is an H letter grade? It simple. It means Having Difficulty. So instead of the D’s and F’s we received H’s instead. I never thought I was good in school. But then that first ever B came along in the 5th grade. I think I jumped up and down. I never thought I’d get one of those, but I did.
However, the one area I struggled in was English. Let’s just say grammar really isn’t my forte.
So after I finished high school, sure enough when I took the placement exam for the local community college I placed three classes below English 101. This put me in English 097. So I had this deep-rooted belief I was no good at writing.
Then four and a half years ago this all changed. As I stand here walking on my treadmill typing this posting on my Kindle, I know that I was meant to write and I’m almost 40. So if you are ten or ninety, pick up that pen or pencil (or Kindle in my case) and write.
