Really, this just means to not let anything get in the way of your writing. I know I could have what seems like a million and one things to keep me from writing. To be honest, I think I let many excuses get in the way of my writing. If I was more disciplined I think I could find the time I need. But, for whatever reason, I can’t seem to find the motivation within myself to become disciplined. It’s almost like it’s a vicious cycle.
Then one day while getting ready to start walking on my treadmill I decided to take my idea about writing on a word or phrase a day over the next year. My writing engine finally got the jump-start it needed. It’s hard to believe I’m already on day 24. And to top it all off, I have started working on my fiction novel again. This novel is very near and dear to my heart.
Something I realized in almost an epiphany moment that the entire first draft wasn’t right. I have to start fresh from the beginning. A friend of mine asked me if I was okay with that and I honestly told her I am 100% excited about it.
I’ve been working on my character sketches/interviews for the past week. Some are in depth while other are less than a page long. The ideas that have been literally fly out of my brain seem to be rolling one on top of the others. It is awesome. I love how as authors we love conflict. In fact, we live for conflict in our stories. But in real life, I think we all would pass.
I now have a great feeling for the story. Many new twists and turns that will have my readers turning the pages (at least I hope 🙂 ). It’s nice to have this feeling as its been missing for quite some time.
