Sometimes it can seem like that’s all we ever do: Waiting. I’ve heard so many times that we live in a “Microwave Society” in that we want everything now. There’s a fast food restaurant almost on every corner. We can have a packaged shipped overnight so it arrives the next day. The microwave itself. I think sometimes we’d all like to be the character “Samantha” where we simply twitch our little nose and ‘puff’ whatever we were wanting to do or have done is magically taken care of.
Yet, God didn’t plan for us to have things done that way. How many times have you heard that when you pray you need to ‘wait’ for God’s answer. That He will reveal it to you. We may not like His answer as it can be ‘no’ many times, yet we are still to wait to see what He has to say.
I think some of the most fulfilling things in life happen when we slow things down and really enjoy those times we have with whatever we may be doing. Like take the time out and going sledding with our children or making a phone call to your mom just to see how she’s doing. When we rush rush rush we tend to say, “I don’t have time for that,” but if we were to slow things down all of a sudden we have more time than we thought we’d have.
Unfortunately, we are still human and waiting may always be hard to do, but in the end the rewards can be so great.
Can you think of a time where you decided to wait on something and the reward was better than you could have every imagined?
