For years I have read romances and they are my favorite to read. I can remember thinking as a teenager, and even as an adult sometimes, that I’d love to write one but had no clue how to or, for that matter, any desire to do so.
Today, I not only read books but I also have been doing a lot of writing. I’ve been working on both my fiction book as well as Mari’s story (which is basically done and almost ready for beta readers). I’ve learned so much in the last few years. I understand better what to do and not to do.
What has helped is reading books on writing. The craft of write takes time to learn. Over time your writing begins to improve more and more. When you read other people’s books you can see what has worked in their novels.
So between reading books on the craft of writing and read fiction books in your genre, just read. You might be amazed at what you can learn.

Yeah, my writing then is just cringe-worthy to read back. Haha. But yeah, reading helps a lot, I realized my writing improved after reading many different books. I used to like, copy other author’s writing styles, now I think I finally have my own 🙂
By the way, I’ve nominated you for a Liebster Award 🙂 (http://xsuzannex.wordpress.com/2014/05/26/liebster-award/) you can choose whether you want to accept it or not, it’s completely optional 🙂

Suzanne, I noticed my writing begin to improve after I started to receive critiques back and then me starting to critique other people’s writing. Writing books have also help a lot.
Thank you for nominating me for the Liebster Award. I went and did a Google search and found that it originated from somewhere that speaks Spanish. I also found out that you are supposed to follow the blog of the person who nominates you if you accept the award. I have accepted and written my post as a result. However, I tried to follow your blog tonight and it kept saying I had to enter a valid email address. I finally gave up because the one I entered is valid. Sorry it wouldn’t work for me.

Really? Maybe you could try following me manually? On the Readers page, beside the Blogs I Follow there’s an Edit button. Click on it and you can enter my blog’s URL on it and click Follow. Hope that helps. If it doesn’t work then it’s okay 🙂

It looks like I am following and I did so a while back. I thought I was looking for the name of your blog to be close to you name for some reason. All’s good now. 🙂 For whatever reason I wasn’t putting your name together with Intrinsic Musings.
