Think about this for a moment. When we write or talk about things do we use our past experiences during those times or do we just guess and hope what we say make sense to others. Personally, I think the best comes from the things we have personally experienced.
For example, how could someone write about loss and how it feels if they have never been through any kind of loss. There are different types of loss. Losing a job. Losing a pet. Losing a friend or even just the friendship itself. Losing a parent. Losing a spouse. And the hardest of all: losing a child. For me I’m able to tap into emotions most have never and never will which was when my daughter died. I not only know but understand that raw emotion that touched you to your very core. My words resonate with others. I’m still so humbled when I read a comment someone has left about how my daughter‘s story has touched there lives. It is a reminder of why I do this.
In the end I write what I know and understand and it all starts in my own front yard.
