Where Eagles Soar Jacket Blurb: In 1947, Lily Sanders and her family moved to a homestead in the edge of an Athabaskan village in the Alaskan Territory. It was an ideal location for her father, a mountain man and hunting guide. It also provided a place where the world could not see his brutality. A heartless act by her father leaves Lily brokenhearted and strips away any thread of hope that one day he might love her. She vows to never forgive him and turns to the powerful bond of love she … [Read more...]
The Journey with Katheryn Haddad #acfw
Please welcome this week's guest Kateryn Haddad for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? I began to write when I was ten years old when my mother picked up a little book of poems at the grocery store (or was it the 5c and 10c store?) and gave it to me. I still have some of the poems I wrote back in 1950. When I was 12, I wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln and it made our local newspaper. Shortly thereafter, my teacher said there was … [Read more...]
The Journey with Angela Strong #acfw
Please welcome this week's guest Angela Strong for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? Becoming a Strong Writer I’ve always been a writer. Whether it started when my mom sold a story about me as a five-year-old to Women’s World or in my 4th grade creative writing class or during my position with the high school newspaper or after I sold my first story to a national magazine for $100 at the age of 16, it doesn’t matter. That was the fun … [Read more...]
The Journey with Jennifer Slattery #acfw
Please welcome back this weeks guest Jennifer Slattery for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? If only we could see things from God’s perspective, imagine the heart ache, frustration, or plain foolishness we’d avoid! If only, when we can’t see, we’d learn to trust, knowing God is indeed good even when it feels as if everything’s falling apart. His love is ever-reaching, ever-healing, ever-drawing, even when we feel all alone. And His … [Read more...]
The Journey with Davalynn Spencer #acfw
Please welcome this weeks guest Davalynn Spencer for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? Strange, but my spiritual vision tends to be closely related to hindsight. I look back and see—as Pilgrim did in his progress—how God has led me, directed me, carried me, and waited on me as I’ve rabbit-trailed it off and on His path. But in that momentary over-the-shoulder view, I am awed at His wisdom. Nearly everything I have done or learned has … [Read more...]
2014 ACFW Pre-Conference Mix and Mingle #acfw
My plan this morning had been to get back to writing my 365 day journey. However, I came across something in my email this morning that I'm quite excited about. It's the ACFW Pre-Conference Mix and Mingle. Laurie Tomlinson has been gracious enough to start this and I'm excited to participate. All you have to do is answer a few questions, which I've put below. If you'd like to join in the fun and add yourself to the list, please click this link: laurietomlinson.com and if you don't have a … [Read more...]
Sorry it took so long… #acfw
I sit here this morning thinking back on the last couple of months, and the time seems to have flown by. Only eight months ago I sat up in my room with my husband discussing with him why I felt I needed to go to the ACFW writers conference in September. Besides that awesome friends I'll finally get to meet in person (Joy Avery Melville, Julie Lessman, Dineen Miller, just to name a few :) ) and the fantastic workshops I'll get to go to, I'll have that rare opportunity to pitch both my fiction … [Read more...]
Seeing the Gift
Wow, it's hard to believe that Mari's book is done. I entered the last of the edits to part 2 and sent it off to my editor (my dear sweet friend Deirdre). This day has been almost six years in the making. A week from tonight I will be on a plane heading toward Chicago as I go visit family. But even bigger than this is the reason I'm heading out that way to begin with. ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) is having their annual writing conference September 25-27 in St. Louis, MO. I'm … [Read more...]

The Journey with Fay Lamb #acfw
Please welcome this weeks guest Fay Lamb for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? God Is Always in the Details … and the Herbs of Life God is always in the details. I believe that’s what God, through Paul, is telling us when it is declared in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” God proved the depth of that scripture by the sacrifice … [Read more...]
