I’m one proud mama because tonight our daughter, Athena, handed us a poem she wrote and dedicated to Keith and I. First off, she is one of the sweetest little girls in the world who happens to be going through a lot right now. When you read what she wrote below, I hope you can see the beautiful heart she has. Her beauty comes from the inside and exudes outward. We are so utterly blessed to be able to be her parents.
I asked her if it’d be okay if I shared this and she said yes. I hope you will enjoy this poem as much as her daddy and I have. If you wouldn’t mind, please leave a comment. I will be sure to share all of them with her.
Poetry About Autism
Dedicated to My Mom & Dad, Kristena & Keith Tunstall
In Life
Though the mouth is numb,
And she may seem dumb,
In life she shines like a star.
She speak as she could,
Though not understood,
To her mother her needs are known.
Loved like a princess,
Guarded like a jewel,
To the parents she is better than these.
Innocence
She took no offense,
When mocked for her dress,
And never mocked people back.
Though many a bully,
They never did pull
The sweet darling into the blues.
She knew of no wrong,
Not any at all,
When wrong was all about her.
When skies were gray,
She would run and play,
In her eyes nothing was wrong.
In Death
When she passed away,
Almost all were in dismay,
Though a good place she would go.
When she landed in heaven,
She went back and held them,
And whispered in her ear.
It shall be alright,
I have you in sight,
And will hug you from above.
