Please welcome this weeks guest Carrie Turansky for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? My Writing Journey I’ve loved reading since I first visited the library as a young child and checked out a tall stack of picture books. I soon graduated to chapter books and spent many happy hours, lying on our porch swing reading. Those lazy days gave my imagination a chance to grow, and they helped me develop a love for well-told stories. My love … [Read more...]
Spring Forward or Fall Back
When you think about springing forward in March or falling back in November, which do you prefer the most? If I had it my way I'd say neither as I hate having to put my clock forward an hour in the fall only to put it back in the spring. It messes with our body systems. I know, it's only an hour, but it's still an hour. However, if I had to choose, I'd always pick falling back because you gain an extra hour whereas with springing back we lose an hour. I remember back when Keith and I first … [Read more...]
FALLing apart
In life there are those moments where it feels like everything around us is falling apart. Sometimes they are only a small fall and other times we biffed the big one. The worst time for me, as anyone can imagine, was during those sixteen long days while Mari lay in a hospital bed deteriorating in front of me. My world began to crumble with every turn for the worse that happened to her. No matter how hard we hoped or prayed, our little girl continued to get worse. E. coli is no joke and should … [Read more...]
FALLing on my face ⎯ literally
Have you ever fallen hard when walking, especially on ice. The year my husband turned 30 I decided to throw him a surprise big 30th birthday party. We invited around 40 people to our friend Missy's house. She had a nice big house at the time that fit everyone comfortably. I purchased a sheet cake from Sam's Club. I got him a special t-shirt that actually said something nice, and not snarky, for his birthday. The day of the party, if you can believe it, Keith ends up getting sick. He was … [Read more...]
Justin
He was the first boy I really fell for. It was the summer between my 6th and 7th grade year. We went to the public pool a lot during that year. I got to meet a lot of cute guys, but Justin is the one that stuck out the most. I was 12 and had turned 13 that August. I would be attending junior high and it was a completely new school. That was the summer I also wore my first bikini. I was so shy and bashful about wearing one. I just remember talking to him a lot and hoping that maybe he'd be my … [Read more...]
FALLing in Love
If you've been married for several years try remember back to when you first started to date your husband or wife. Do you remember how you felt back then? Do you remember the butterflies in you belly when you thought of them? Do you remember when you started to miss them while you were apart? I do. I'd only known Keith for about a month before we started to date. What was the tipping point in our relationship where we went from just being friends to want to be more is when we went to Six … [Read more...]

Here we have the continuing journey of Sally Bradley as she answers the question, "How have you seen God work in your writing journey?" If you missed the Part 1, you can click here to read the first half of her writing journey. Over the next year, the time it took me to heal, editor after editor passed on the book. And I found myself relieved that my dream hadn’t come to fruition yet. What a disaster that would have been. A few months after I’d healed, God moved us from the church where my … [Read more...]
Pumpkin or Apple Pie at Thanksgiving?
Talk about two of my very favorite pies. It’s hard to choose which is possibly my favorite. So I won’t. However, I will give the recipes that I use when making them from scratch (And yes, I make everything from scratch to include the pie crust. Yummy!!) The basis for my pie crust comes from the Betty Crocker cookbook, yet I’ve done some slight alterations to give it my own little touch. I use this for both my pumpkin and apple pies. One-Crust Pie (Pumpkin): ⅓ cup plus 1 tablespoon butter … [Read more...]

On Sunday, October 13, 2013, Part 2 posted. I hope you will enjoy her journey as much I have. One of the most amazing things about God is that He is well able to take true disasters in our life and bring good from them. Any Christian writer certainly knows this. My writing journey began a … [Read more...]
Which is better to jump in: a leaf pile or a puddle?
Absolutely a leaf pile. It’s that time of year where all the trees have begun or have changed colors and the leaves have started to fall. When you’re an adult and you see the leaves have fallen all over your yard at this time of the year, you just shake your head because all you can think about is how it’s more work for you to do. However, when you’re a kid, man, it’s time to play. You will spend an hour piling up the leaves into a nice big mountain. The bigger the pile the softer the cushion … [Read more...]
