When I first saw the heading "The Matanuska Valley and Other Diversions," I was like "what the heck could this be about. Then I read the short exert. I had to laugh. I think one word can sum it up best: Procrastination. I don't think there is a person on this earth who hasn't procrastinated at some point in their life. Now grant it, there are some who have made it an art form with how great they do this. And others rarely ever do. God has made each and every one of us so different. We each … [Read more...]
Something New (and hopefully exciting): A 365 Day Journey
I’ve been thinking about doing something for a while. I wanted to try to find a word a day to write about. I went searching on Amazon and found a few things I can do this with. However, it won’t be a word but instead writing prompts. I’ve decided to go with “A Year of Writing Dangerously: 365 Days of Inspiration & Encouragement” by Barbara Abercrombie. I’ve wanted to do this for quite some time because I’d like to become more regular with posting on Mari’s website. I know when I write I … [Read more...]
Sitting here thinking
I sit here staring at my precious baby girl’s slide show on this very site. There are so many of her from all different ages. From when she had longer hair to when we finally cut it short so she’d quite using her hair as a chewing device. The little smile that stares back at you cuts right into my soul. It is something I miss all the time. I haven’t just looked at the pictures in a while and tonight I posted something on the site and then sat there staring at the slide show remember all the … [Read more...]
Reflecting on Mari’s posts…
It’s amazing to me sometimes how I can go days, weeks and sometimes even months without posting anything on Mari’s site and then I will go several days in a row where I have lots to say. For me Mari’s website isn’t about having a specific number of posts or trying to attract hundreds of people. Now don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have hundreds of people visiting her website to learn more about her and where I am with my grief journey as all of this helps her memory continue to live on. But … [Read more...]

The Journey with Morgan Busse
Please welcome this weeks guest Morgan Busse for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? How have you seen God work in your writing journey? It started eight years ago when I first started writing. Like any writer, I dreamed of publishing a novel. It was a long process. The Journey with Kathy Harris
Please welcome this weeks guest Kathy Harris for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? I’ve often wondered how we can know at a young age what we want to pursue in life. No doubt God places the desire within our heart as a calling to be fulfilled at the time and place He ordains, the path remaining uncertain. By the time I was seven or eight, I knew I wanted to be a writer, and I followed that dream through high school and college. … [Read more...]

My writing journey began way back in middle school, when I dreamed of someday writing historical fiction. I was quite prolific through my teenaged years. However, through college, marriage and early motherhood, my writing declined to fits and starts. But in 2000, when my youngest child went to kindergarden, I embarked on the writing life with a new … [Read more...]
