When I think of the different things that start to come out during the fall for the things people like to eat, things that come to mind are caramel apples, candy corn, cranberry sauce, squashes, turkey, the multi color corn (maze corn), apple pie, stuffing, and so many more.
However, I think my very favorite is pumpkin pie. Ever since I can remember, this time of year brings out the pumpkin pies. And not even just the pie but pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, and maybe some other things I don’t know of.
I can remember several days before Thanksgiving where my mom would start her pie creating fest. She’d make so many pies. Apple pie. Cherry pie. Lemon Meringue pie. Cheesecake. And I think even a couple of other kinds as well.
When it came to pumpkin pie, well she made at minimum four of them. I remember one year she made eight, and I don’t think we had a lot of people over. We all loved our pie.
Something that sort of became a tradition on Thanksgiving Day was to have pumpkin pie for breakfast. I remember the first year I did that with my hubby and he couldn’t believe it. It’s funny the different types of traditions you can bring into a marriage.
I love to have it with my dollop of Cool Whip on top. It’s plain flat yummy goodness.
So do you have any favorite fall flavors you’d like to share? I’d love to hear about them.
