When I first glanced at the topic I thought about how I’ve been trying to work out on a daily basis by walking anywhere from a half hour to as long as 2 1/2 to 3 hours each day.
It seems like most people who haven’t worked out in a while dread starting a new exercise routine. When you first start out the body tends to become sore from the new way it’s being used. But once you’ve gone a few times the body becomes accustomed to this and you actually begin to love how you feel after a workout.
The same can all be true for writing. When you’ve been away from writing for any length of time it can sometimes feel like pulling teeth to get your mind motivated to just sit down and write or even edit something. As the first couple of days pass, we easily fall back into a routine with our writing which helps us to work out our brains. And at the end of a day you feel good about yourself because you did it and it feels awesome.
Writing is a journey. One that need never end. We have journals, short stories, novellas, and novels we can all be writing at different times in our lives. Whatever works best for our brains in that moment is the best way to work it out.
