The basic gist is this: Procrastination. How often do we say or think, “Oh, I can wait to do ________ until tomorrow (or whatever time you put). Fill in the blank with whatever it is you're putting off. For me, it's been so many different things. I think we can all say that about something that we needed to do but didn’t feel like it so we pushed it off until the last possible minute and then it’s crunch time. I admit that I have procrastinated a few times with my writing. I know it'll be … [Read more...]
Day 111: Authors on Pedestals #acfw
I really like this. As writers we have so much at our disposal to write about. Every life today is different from someone else’s life. Think about it. We all have our own unique way of looking at things. We can look at two people and think they are living the exact same life. However, if you were to step into the shoes of each one you’d find out that while there are some similarities, their lives are different. Think about identical twins. When I was growing up my mom became friends with a … [Read more...]
Day 110: Reading in Russia #acfw
Have you ever read a book and loved it so much you contacted the author either by snail mail or email? I have. I read a book called The Wedding Kiss by the pen name Hannah Alexander. The names of the actual authors are a husband and wife writing team. There real names are Mel and Cheryl Horde. I loved this book so much I wanted to let them know so I sent an email to them to the email address listed in the book. Cheryl actually wrote me back. We ended up talking back and forth for several … [Read more...]

I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award #acfw
I was just going through comments left on this site and Suzanne Ong nominated for the Liebster Award. This is a pleasant surprise to find. So you might be asking, "What is a Liebster Award?" Basically it is an award given by fellow bloggers to other bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers. It's a way to help bring them more exposure so that really great blogs that might other wise be missed can be more easily found. Here are the simple rules for accepting the award: List 11 random … [Read more...]
The Journey with Melody Balthaser #acfw
Please welcome this weeks guest Melody Blathaser for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? A special thank you to you, Kristena, for allowing me to share my writing journey. It is a privilege! As a teenager, I stumbled upon romance novels and the rest is history. School nights spent under covers with a flashlight, entrenched in an imaginary world of spirited southern belles and handsome drifters. A time or two, I read all night! This … [Read more...]
I’ve been away…
My 365 day writing journey, as you've probably notice, has come to stop over the past couple of weeks. I've been dealing with computer issues and also having to try and fix my computers. As a result my writing journey hasn't been happening. My hope is that I will be able to pick it back up at the beginning of June. In the mean time, please stop by each Friday for The Journey. My hope is that each person story that is share might encourage you in some way like it does me. … [Read more...]
The Journey with Shannon Vannatter #acfw
Please welcome this weeks guest Shannon Vannatter for The Journey. She answers the question: How have you seen God work in your writing journey? God Sent Encouragement God called me to be a writer in 1996 when I went to the library looking for clean romance and couldn’t find any. At the same time, it hit me that the story I’d had in my head since my teens could be a book. But I didn’t have a computer and I wasn’t a great typist. I told myself that if I ever got a computer, I’d write that … [Read more...]
Day 109: Just Reading #acfw
For years I have read romances and they are my favorite to read. I can remember thinking as a teenager, and even as an adult sometimes, that I'd love to write one but had no clue how to or, for that matter, any desire to do so. Today, I not only read books but I also have been doing a lot of writing. I've been working on both my fiction book as well as Mari's story (which is basically done and almost ready for beta readers). I've learned so much in the last few years. I understand better what … [Read more...]
