Have you ever wondered how long it takes you to fall asleep? There are times where it seems almost from the moment my head hits that pillow I’m out. And then there are other times where I can be laying there for a couple of hours, tossing, turning, looking at the clock, and still not being able to go to sleep.
But for the most part I’d say it probably takes me five to ten minutes to get there.
Something that helps me along the way is reading a book. Here recently, the books I’ve been reading are by Julie Lessman. The series I’m going through at the moment are The Daughters of Boston. The first book, A Passion Most Pure, was fantastic. She’s not the typical romance or Christian writer. She doesn’t stick to the cookie-cutter way of telling a romance in that you have the heroine’s and the hero’s POVs (Points of View) and maybe the antagonist’s, she also had several other key characters as well with their own POVs to the point you weren’t sure who was going to end up with who. It’s what kept the book more fascinating and also kept your attention until that very last word of the story.
Something else I like is how she wasn’t afraid to show the attraction between a male and female character even though it is a Christian romance. Now, there are a lot of fantastic Christian romances out there. However, most don’t show the attraction between the hero and heroine as well as Julie has. It helps me to see how much the two really are attracted to each other without either character ever going too far that would be completely inappropriate. It’s a beautiful thing to watch.
I’m now in the process of reading the second book in the series, A Passion Redeemed. So far, just like the first, I’m loving it. I can see the inner battle between both the hero and heroine as one fight his attraction for the other.
So will I go to bed tonight reading this story, absolutely. And it will be on my mind as I finally fall into sleep for the night.

Kristena, if you like historical Christian romances, try BURNING SKY by Lori Benton. You won’t be sorry. My mother says it’s better than Francine Rivers’ books. I agree.
